Offerings for June 27th Pick Up

Happy “official” summer to all of you!

We’ve got the great seasonal crossover happening right now – some of the best and last of the spring crops (carrots, beets, cabbage, herbs, greens) with some of the excitement of the summer crops creeping in! Check out the thai, purple, and Genovese basil varieties we have available, as well as squash, zucchini, and the first eggplant! Mixing spring crops with these yummy summer ones can create meals like pasta salads, slaws, and big, clean-out-the-fridge chopped salads!

We’re also very excited about the first of our roselle leaves comming in! Roselle, or hibiscus leaves, have a zingy, citrusy flavor. In many parts of the world, these greens are cooked, though they can also be eaten raw in salads and add a really pleasant citrus flavor. We recommend this recipe for Stir-Fried Roselle Leaves, also known as Chin Baung Kyaw in Burmese.

As always, we’d love to hear from you about what we’re doing well and what we could be doing better!

Lastly, if you’ve been enjoying your vegetables from Growing Together, we’d love for you to consider purchasing a Fall CSA share! The Fall CSA runs for 8 weeks and is a way to support a Growing Together farmer by providing an upfront investment in their work. In return, each customer gets a share of the farmer’s vegetables each week during the CSA season. Check out our website for more information about the Fall CSA.

We are so grateful for your support!

Offerings for June 20th Pick Up

We hope you all have been enjoying this cool June weather! The farmers are loving it!

We do still have some remaining cool weather crops in the field – bok choy, komatsuna, carrots, beets, herbs, and more! We’re also seeing some of the summer veggies trickle in this week – the first summer squashes and zucchinis, and several varieties of basil! If you haven’t already tried Sumitra’s edible flower mix, it’s a great way to add some pizzaz and color to salads or other dishes you’re creating!

Offerings for June 13th Pick Up

Another week is upon us! Despite the summer heat of the last few weeks, the farmers are working hard to keep the spring crops healthy and looking good for you! We are nearing the end of cold weather crops, so be sure to order your fill of mustard greens, radishes, kales, and arugula before they are gone!

We’ve also still got great looking cabbage coming in as well as a new planting of lettuces, so be sure to check those out. Also, the first of the cipollini onions are coming in!! These are delicious fresh onions with a higher sugar content than a typical onion which makes them perfect for caramelizing or roasting whole!

As always, please let us know if you have any questions about any products or your account.

Offerings for June 6th Pick Up

Dear Growing Together customers,

Thank you for hanging in there with us as we have worked to adapt to this online process and schedule. Your purchases and support are so meaningful and ensure that the farmers’ hard work this spring results in necessary income for themselves and their families. Thank you!

We’ve also got several lettuce and salad mixes as well as an all-new edible flower mix from one of the youngest farmers in the program, Sumitra. She’s excited to share this new offering with you! These flowers are perfect as garnishes for a fun meal or mixed into salads for pops of color!

We are coming to the end of our cauliflower (orange variety this week!), broccoli, and cabbage, so be sure to check those out if you’d like!
